This ashtray by Kutani ware's Kutani Shoei has been made into a pendant light.
The design is gorgeous, with plum blossoms as the motif and accents of yellow flowers and blue.
The pale painting and delicate gold accents combine to create an elegant finish.
The careful handwork is evident in the painting, which is done without any margins from the edge to the side.
This special piece was born by giving a new role to a traditional vessel.
It has a calm presence that blends naturally into both Japanese and Western rooms.
